Absences and homework
If your child is absent from school for 2 or more days, and you would like to collect homework, please contact Mrs. Coogan at 276-2588 in the morning after the 1st absence.  Please also check the classes' FUSION website.
Discipline Disclaimer

Except as otherwise stated herein, it is our policy that students shall be responsible for disclosing their disciplinary information to prospective colleges or universities or private schools. It is also the student's responsibility to respond honestly to questions pertaining to their disciplinary record on university/college/private school applications. Unless specifically requested by a college/university/private school or as required by law, regulation, court order or as otherwise necessary to fulfill a duty and/or obligation imposed by law, Somers Middle School will not share any information concerning a student's disciplinary record with any college, university, or private school.

Classroom Lessons:
Each grade level counselor pushes into various classrooms through out the school year.  Topics addressed include: understanding differences, social and group dynamics, schedling classes for 9th grade, and other issues affecting adolescents' development.

Helpful tips on where students can go at SMS for help with various situations can be found in the Student Handbook.  Please take some time to review the handbook with your child, if you haven't done so already.
